Amsterdam, 24 February 2015. The METISfiles have updated the Dutch Cloudscape. Version 1.4 is now online and visualizes 248 cloud providers of which 10% are active in more than one segment or category, resulting in a total of 277 entries. SaaS remains the most popular segment with 76% of entries. 20% of entries are IaaS providers and only 4% offer PaaS services.
Within the SaaS segment, Online Workspace is the leading SaaS offering with 19% of SaaS vendors. Communications commands a 13% share of SaaS followed by Financial/ERP (12%), HRM (9%), Digital Marketing (6%), CRM (5%), Collaboration (4%), Education (4%), Time Management (3%), Document Management (3%) and Healthcare (3%). The “other” segment (19%) has a wide variety of specialisations.
Other interesting characteristics of Dutch SaaS providers include:
- The percentage of SaaS providers that have an IaaS partner has increased from 54% to 58%, 42% have their own infrastructure, down from 46% last year
- 69% of SaaS providers that have an IaaS partner are located in a Dutch data centre compared to 66% last year. 16% are in another European country compared to 13% last year. 15% are in the US, down from 21% last year.
- 45% of SaaS providers that have an IaaS partner provide online ordering and onboarding compared to 21% of those that have their own infrastructure. Last year these percentages were 52% and 24% respectively.
